Welcome! My name is Alan Shisko, and I'm a freelance motion graphics artist working out of Toronto, Canada. I've been very lucky in my career to have had many inspiring teachers, and decided to start this blog to give back to the community that has enriched me both technically and aesthetically. Perhaps my words and images will inspire you to do the same! If you wish, take a minute to view my demo reel at Effektor.ca, or view a comprehensive gallery of my past work Here.

Spidey Project

Just noodling around with some web-slingin' typography. Thought it might be fun to try to duplicate the 'Spiderman' title in After Effects, and here's the result. I used a combination of Layer Styles and a couple of effects to do a fairly convincing job, I think. There are some caveats: I needed to do multiple text layers to pull it off, so if you want to change any parameters in the 'Character' palette, you have to duplicate the operations on each of the text layers. But if you want to just change the size, use 'Scale' on the top text item and all layers will update. Changing the souce text of the upper layer causes all layers to automatically update.

You'll need to download the font from dafont.com. It's called "Homoarakhan" (for some reason) and it's available for free HERE. Once you install the font, open up the After Effects project file (AE CS3 or later, available HERE) and sling some web!
