Welcome! My name is Alan Shisko, and I'm a freelance motion graphics artist working out of Toronto, Canada. I've been very lucky in my career to have had many inspiring teachers, and decided to start this blog to give back to the community that has enriched me both technically and aesthetically. Perhaps my words and images will inspire you to do the same! If you wish, take a minute to view my demo reel at Shisko.com, or view a comprehensive gallery of my past work Here.

Idle Dimensional Speculation

Way back in April, I spent some time going on about Adobe's notable lack of a 3d program in their stable of applications. Recently, I've received several marketing spots in my inbox touting the Adobe/ Maxon Power Integration Tour. To the casual observer, it would certainly seem that Adobe and Maxon are getting pretty cozy. Are they dancing, or merely leveraging their respective core strengths? Who's to know! But let's see now... the last date in the tour is here in Toronto on April 3rd. The NAB show takes place in Vegas April 11-17.

Hm!

This tour took place last year, however it's great news for many that Maxon and Adobe have finally made a tour date in Toronto. Hopefully this will open people within the broadcast/design community to what Cinema 4D has to offer.

Cool,

But they should visit Europe aswell.

My only guess to why not is b/c C4D is so widely used there. Only until r8 or 9 i think, C4D was unheard of in North America. So they have been trying to get the word out... hence the tour.

Another app to add to the stable of fully-to-somewhat Adobe apps-compatible is Electricimage Animation System (www.eitechnologygroup.com): the recently released EIAS v.7 now produces multilayer PSD and RPF sequences. And there is some script to integrate motion data from EIAS, Maya and others into AE's 3D space. Obviously, C4D does it all far more elegantly.

Actually, what I'd want to see is Adobe providing AE with a few simple 3D primitives: spheres, cylinders, etc. These would be grand for doing simple cicloramas, skies and such.

That would be Zaxwerks Invigorator :)

But I do agree that this would be a worthy 'native' AE capability. AE does ship with CC Sphere which renders very fast and gives you the choice to render just the 'inside', but it's not camera-aware, making it pretty much useless for cyc's/ skies.

I'm convinced Adobe will bid to buy C4D... they're so good at "buying" s/w instead of developing it... Although, I'm not much of a fan of C4D compared to other 3D apps out there, but Adobe couldn't afford the good ones.

Lovin' your blog Alan.
